They will research and answer the following questions for their topic of choice.
Students will be using Google slides on their TDSB account to compile their findings to the class in oral presentation.

We watched the video- Drug Abuse Education - It's a Fact!
from YouTube and discussed different drugs and drug abuse and right choices.

Action
|
We signed out some pictures books from the library about the topic.
Gathered students on the carpet and discussed the questions.
1. What is tobacco/ alcohol/ caffeine?
2. Why do people smoke/ drink alcohol/ drink substances with caffeine?
3. What is the impact of substance abuse on the person who is abusing the substance?
4. What is an impact of substance abuse for the people who are around the person who is abusing the substance?
5. What are some refusal techniques people can use?
6. What is the Smoke-Free Ontario Act?
7. How they can write a bibliography?
Also we discussed a rubric of a Google slide show and oral presentation rubric.
Explained how they can research on Google.

Accommodations/ Modifications
|
As a facilitator, I worked with some of my students who need help for making a slide on Google. Also, some ESL students worked with a partner and extra time for those students don’t have internet services at home.

Using a rubric and collaboration with friends, all students created wonderful Google slides. They also wrote a bibliography. All students presented their findings to the class in an oral presentation.
All students used some websites for their research and pictures books.
